Dean McGee Eye Institute, located on a prominent corner of the University of Oklahoma Medical Center campus, hired ADG Blatt to create an iconic expansion that would double research and clinical space. The 78,500-square-foot expansion carefully blends the new curved design to soften the exterior of the original 1975 Brutalist architectural style. The finished result expresses a contemporary aesthetic that incorporates building features, such as new window and structural rhythms, that pay tribute to the original building.

The four-story atrium lobby serves as the central reception area for the entire facility, guiding patients into an open waiting area where they are directed to appointments and procedures. A floating glass sunshade protects the lobby from the western sun. Sweeping interior bridges span the atrium linking the new clinical research areas to the existing building.
