Myriad Botanical Gardens engaged ADG Blatt to renovate their south lobby to create a welcoming light-filled gathering space. Design directives included relocating reception and adding art gallery space to showcase local artists. The main visual goals included guiding people to the reception desk/cashier and enlarging the gallery/event space. The renovation relocated the reception desk from the middle of the space to the north wall, 57 feet away from the main entrance. One design challenge was to find a way to highlight the reception desk and draw guests towards it. A new pathway from the door directly to the desk was created using custom overhead lighting. An LED-backlit focal element overhead in the form of  an abstract tropical leaf caps the space. Two art galleries flank the central space and help define the edges of the pathway, while also creating a wide-open, well-lit space for events.
