KOCO: New Oklahoma City Police headquarters opens Monday
OKLAHOMA CITY —
The new headquarters for the Oklahoma City Police Department opened downtown Monday.
The new three-story, 88,625 square-foot building is across the street from the old police headquarters at Shartel and Colcord, which was built is 1965 and faced maintenance problems. The new building is 11 percent larger than the old building.
“We have an expertly trained, highly respected police force, so there was strong support for the new headquarters,” Mayor Mick Cornett said. “The building’s design and construction will serve residents 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for decades to come.”
Citizens can access police records from the first floor. The second floor will be home to the Investigations Bureau and the third floor will hold the Police Chief's office and the Criminal Intelligence Unit.
