Special Care
Expandding Possibilites for Children with Special Needs
Special Care is a safe, inclusive space where children with special needs can grow, learn, and thrive. With a waiting list of over 400 children, the demand for its services highlights the vital role it plays in the Oklahoma City community.
In 2014, ADG completed a 16,000-square-foot expansion that added three classrooms, a tiered 250-seat accessible auditorium with a stage, and a new dining facility that also serves as a FEMA-compliant safe room.
Now, Special Care is partnering again with ADG Blatt, as well as Quad Construction and the American Way, to further expand its capacity. The outdoor accessible play area will be relocated to make room for a new wing that blends seamlessly with the existing structure. The expansion will include:
A new nursery
A developmental mobility room
Additional teaching spaces
Renovations to existing rooms to match the open, well-lit design of the new construction
Groundbreaking took place on July 22, 2025, with an enthusiastic crowd including the Mayor of Oklahoma City, donors, parents, and children. The energy was palpable as the Special Care community celebrated the beginning of this exciting new chapter.
